Anne Frank Unit Test - THURSDAY
Hi everyone,
this is just a review of what we talked about during class:
-You must have finished reading the book for Monday (you do not have to read the afterward- we will read this together)
-You will be allowed to take one double-sided 8.5 x 11" piece of paper with notes on it into the exam. You can have anything
that you want written on the paper, including your thesis statement, vocab words, meanings etc. The only thing you CAN
NOT do is pre-write your essay in advance
-You will have your choice to write on any two of the four essay topics seen below:
A) Holocaust survivor Eli Wiesel stated, “for the dead and the living we must bear witness” – what do you think he meant by
this statement?
B) Anne is growing into a woman as the pages of her diary progress, but it doesn't seem that Anne is happy with how this is
happening. What are some of the main events what take place in Anne's transformation into a woman?
C) How does Anne see herself growing up? What role does other people’s expectations for her play in this process?
D) How does Anne's Jewish faith help her as she grows up in the Annexe? How does it hurt her? In general, how do the
occupants of the Annexe use faith to help them make it through the long days and years?

What You Need for Monday
Hi everyone,
as you know, you are going to the band/choir festival on Monday. You will have a lot of downtime in which you will not be performing and you will have THREE TASKS TO COMPLETE during this time which are as follows:
1) You MUST bring
-The Diary of Anne Frank with you
- Something to write with (pen or pencil)
-Ms. Van Muyen and Ms. Carpenter will be keeping track of this and letting me know if you didn't bring these items!
2) During the time that you are there, you must read up to pg. 175 in the Diary of Anne Frank. You will have a baby reading quiz on these pages the first class you have back with me (8A, block 5 Monday, 8B, block 1 Tuesday). 8 B's have pgs. 150-175 to read and 8 A have pgs. 160-175 to read.
3) You must have totally completed your Holocaust project proposals BY THE END OF THE FESTIVAL. Ms. VanMuyen will give you a worksheet that you must thoroughly complete and she will collect this from you at the end of the festival. This form will be part of your project mark, so be thoughtful and clear when you fill it out.
